The session took place at the Dental Unit Laboratory, Soetatmi Suryo Building, under the guidance of experienced lecturers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The primary goal of this practicum was to equip students with skills in identifying normal anatomical structures of the head and neck, recognizing common oral diseases, and detecting abnormalities. Understanding these aspects is crucial for future dental hygiene professionals, as they play a key role in preventive care and patient education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the session, students were guided on how to conduct systematic intraoral examinations. They learned to use the proper tools and techniques to ensure accurate assessments. This hands-on experience not only enhanced their technical skills but also deepened their understanding of oral health, which is essential in promoting affordable healthcare solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of their training, students were encouraged to document their findings accurately. They practiced using precise terminology to describe their observations, which is vital for maintaining accurate patient records. Clear communication skills are essential in healthcare, where proper documentation can significantly impact patient outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lecturers\u2019 involvement during the practicum ensured that students received direct feedback and guidance. This mentorship is crucial in developing the next generation of dental professionals, preparing them to tackle oral health challenges in their communities. By fostering a supportive learning environment, the program aims to enhance students' confidence and competence in their future careers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This practicum aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, which ensures access to high-quality education. By providing hands-on experience, UGM Faculty of Dentistry contributes to building a skilled workforce capable of addressing public health issues, including affordable healthcare access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Early detection of oral diseases is critical, as it forms the foundation for preventive care. By training students to identify potential health concerns, this program empowers them to take proactive steps in their future practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This intraoral examination practicum is a significant step in educating future dental hygiene professionals.
