Her presentation highlighted the complex relationship between TMD and mental health, emphasizing how emotional stress can exacerbate TMD symptoms such as muscle pain and difficulty in jaw movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In her talk, Drg. Intan explained that stress and anxiety significantly influence the intensity of TMD symptoms. Muscle tension resulting from stress often worsens the patient\u2019s condition, making it crucial to adopt a treatment approach that considers both physical and psychological factors. She further noted that patients with mental disorders, such as depression, often experience increased muscle tension and teeth grinding habits, which can aggravate TMD symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"Accurate diagnosis plays a key role in determining the appropriate treatment plan. In this case, diagnosing TMD requires the DC\/TMD form, which includes two axes, one of which involves psychological assessment,\" said drg. Intan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Through this event, the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, by promoting a holistic treatment approach that not only focuses on physical aspects but also considers psychological factors to enhance patient care quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
