Residents of the Pediatric Dentistry Specialist Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), participated in a laser speckle contrast imaging technology training on Friday, 6 December 2024. The event took place at FKG UGM, involving lecturers, students, and general participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training was organized by iDSDC FKG UGM in collaboration with the Inter-University Center of Excellence (PUAPT) UGM. It aimed to enhance the residents' competencies in utilizing advanced imaging technology to support dental treatments, particularly in pediatric dentistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andi Muhammad Fuad Ansar, one of the pediatric dentistry residents at FKG UGM, expressed his enthusiasm for the training. \"This workshop provided new insights on how laser speckle technology can improve diagnosis and treatment. Such technology is essential in addressing children's dental health issues, which are often overlooked,\" he stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to learning how laser speckle imaging devices work, participants received hands-on training on interpreting imaging results. The training was designed to provide direct experience, ensuring that residents are prepared to implement this technology in their daily practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event also included discussions on the ethical implications of using advanced technology in pediatric dentistry and the importance of community involvement in raising awareness about children's dental health. Residents were encouraged to share their knowledge with the community, including educating parents on the importance of maintaining their children's oral health from an early age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This training aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Through collaboration between iDSDC and PUAPT UGM, this training represents a concrete step in improving the quality of education and pediatric dental healthcare services in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
