An innovative product resulting from the research conducted by the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), called \"Dental SilkBon,\" was awarded the title of \"Second Best Medical Device Research Product\" by the Ministry of Health. The award was received during the \"Medical Devices Research Innovation 2024\" event held at Grand Metropolitan Mall, Bekasi, on 18-19 July 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was attended by various institutions, including universities, health polytechnics, and health associations such as Aspaki, Hipelki, and Gakeslab. The exhibition and talk show aimed to support medical device innovation in Indonesia and strengthen research networks in the field of medical devices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dental SilkBon is the result of a multidisciplinary collaboration between the Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at UGM, in partnership with PT GIB (Gama Indonesia Berdikari). The product uses silk fiber from Bombyx mori as a strong, aesthetic, multifunctional, and biocompatible reinforcement material for dental restorations. This innovation is expected to improve dental care in Indonesia by providing affordable materials, reducing reliance on imported products, and increasing the level of domestic content (TKDN).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The research on Dental SilkBon, led by Prof. Dr. drg. Siti Sunarintyas, M.Kes from the Department of Dental Biomaterials at FKG, began in 2020. Together with her team, Prof. Nari successfully involved lecturers, dental researchers, and students in the development of this product. Supported by the 2022 Kedaireka Matching Fund and partnered with PT. GIB, the Dental SilkBon startup was established, led by FKG UGM student Daffa Wuri Hasanain, SKG. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dental SilkBon offers numerous benefits, including enhancing dental care through renewable and environmentally friendly raw materials. Prof. Nari remains committed to continuously developing this product to improve dental and oral health in Indonesia and promote healthcare independence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
