aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1661\"><p>Based on the Rector Regulation UGM No. 2 of 2023 Article 54, Universitas Gadjah Mada offers extensive opportunities for persons with disabilities to develop their potential. In support of this regulation, the Faculty of Dentistry implements specific rules to accommodate students\/prospective students with permanent or temporary disabilities.<\/p><p>Students with permanent or temporary disabilities (both new and current students) must provide the following documents:<\/p><ol><li>A certificate from the attending doctor (following the disability experienced) issued by a healthcare institution, at least a Type B Hospital.<\/li><li>An evaluation of the condition of the student\/prospective student concerning their disability is needed. The information required includes:<ol><li>Description of the current medical condition of the student\/prospective student<\/li><li>Treatment received by the student\/prospective student<\/li><li>Prognosis of the disability experienced by the student\/prospective student<\/li><li>Medical recommendations related to the student\/prospective student's condition for participating in the learning activities at the Faculty of Dentistry.<\/li><\/ol><\/li><\/ol><p><br \/>These documents should be submitted to the Head or Secretary of the Study Program to adjust the learning activities for the concerned students. For temporary disabilities, academic support provided to students will be adjusted according to individual needs. For students with permanent physical disabilities, an objective reassessment will be conducted regarding the availability of resources and the Faculty's technical capabilities. The condition of the student\/prospective student will be periodically monitored by the Study Program to observe the development of their disability.<\/p><p>Evaluation of the achievement of minimum competencies (cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects) or standard abilities will be conducted by the Study Program\/Faculty for all Dentistry students without exception. At the end of the study period, each Dentistry student's achievement of competency standards will be assessed through the National Dentistry Competency Exam (UKMP2DG) as an exit exam.<\/p><ol><li>Observation Skills<br \/>Dentist candidates must be able to perform a complete physical examination independently, correctly observe and interpret the diagnostic data of the patient's physiological conditions, and accurately evaluate the patient's condition and responses to integrate this information and develop an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan. Observation skills to be mastered include 1) Visual Observation (e.g., examining the condition of the teeth, gums, and oral tissues thoroughly, assessing the shape, color, and texture of teeth, etc.), 2) Functional Observation (e.g., examining the bite and occlusion of teeth, assessing the patient's ability to speak and eat, etc.), 3) Psychological Observation (e.g., understanding the patient's desires and expectations for treatment, assessing the patient's anxiety and satisfaction levels, etc.).<\/li><li>Communication Skills<br \/>Dentist candidates must communicate effectively and efficiently with patients, patients' families, healthcare workers, colleagues, faculty staff, and others they encounter. They must obtain medical history accurately and build therapeutic relationships with patients. Candidates must be able to record information accurately and clearly in Medical Records and communicate with other healthcare workers for patient management purposes.<\/li><li>Motor Functions<br \/>Dentist candidates must independently perform physical and diagnostic examinations, such as palpation, auscultation, percussion, and others, including the ability to operate technical equipment such as dental chairs, pliers, and dental restoration drills. They must respond to clinical situations promptly and provide general and emergency care directly to patients in various situations and conditions, such as performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, applying pressure to stop bleeding, clearing obstructed airways, suturing superficial wounds, etc. These activities require physical mobility coordination of gross and fine neuromuscular functions. Candidates must also meet appropriate environmental safety standards and adhere to universal precaution procedures.<\/li><li>Intellectual-Conceptual Skills, Integrative and Quantitative Abilities<br \/>Dentist candidates must absorb and understand detailed, complex information in didactic and clinical practice curriculums. They are expected to be able to comprehend three-dimensional relationships and spatial relationships of structures and adapt to different learning environments and modalities. Candidates must be able to learn, participate, collaborate, and contribute effectively as part of a team. They must be able to formulate hypotheses and draw appropriate and accurate conclusions for diagnostic and patient care purposes, both in teledentistry and face-to-face modes.<\/li><li>Behavioral Attributes, Social Skills, and Professional Expectations<br \/>Dentist candidates must demonstrate sufficient maturity and emotional stability to carry out responsibilities related to diagnosing and treating patients. They must act legally and ethically in dental practice and follow professional standards. Candidates must be willing to take responsibility for collaborative and constructive learning, accept constructive feedback from others, and take personal responsibility for making positive changes. They must have the physical and emotional stamina to tolerate heavy workloads to function competently and professionally in stressful and fast-paced situations, adapt to changing environments, show
